What is the Andúril Initiative?

The Andúril Initiative is a leadership academy for Millennial and Gen Z professionals who possess the qualities and drive to lead and guide civic institutions. The Initiative was founded by Lawrence Gillheeney and a group of young professional leaders committed to freedom.

How does the talent pipeline work?

The Andúril Initiative’s work begins by bringing the right people together at our signature events. We then connect them with our partners and help with career resources, training, placement, and advancement.

How does the Andúril Initiative’s programming work?

Andúril Initiative participants are screened for compatibility with the values of courage, integrity, competence, and renewal and paired with mentors. Programming focuses on the power of persuasion, institutional responsibility, fundraising strategies, and ethical conduct.

What does Andúril mean?

Andúril is a reference to the legendary sword from Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, which was broken standing up for what’s right and then reforged. The vision of the Andúril Initiative is to reforge broken civic institutions and create a freer future.

Where does Andúril meet?

The Andúril Initiative primarily holds events in the northeast United States, but anyone can join our online events. Currently, our activities are focused on core cities in the northeast, including New York, Boston, Providence, Jersey City, and New Haven.

Why Andúril rather than another organization?

Other organizations select for whoever happens to show up to the party. We select for fortitude. Andúril forms people who can be trusted with real authority, and puts them in reach of one another as they step into public life.

While who you know may influence membership in other organizations, the Andúril Initiative selects members based solely on their merit.
